DaSilva Sensei has over 25 years of experience in the martial arts. He holds multiple black belts, teaches Yang Style Tai Chi, as well as having Master Certificates in Neti Yoga and G-Jo Acupressure. Mr. DaSilva is not hung up on titles, teacher is the only title he cares for and is truly “Sensei.” "The road to perfection and mastery is only a journey so that you stay on the path and not lose your way. The destination is only “you.” The school is life and your relationship to it. Learn this art out of love for yourself and respect for your fellow man."
The martial art that has become his greatest passion is Aiki-Jujitsu. His goal is to keep aiki principles and a true self defense style of jujitsu from disappearing. In doing so, he wishes to pay tribute to those who have kept these arts alive and from extinction.
*Sokaku Takeda, through Daito Ryu Aiki-Jujtsu*
*H. Okazaki, through Danzan Ryu Jujitsu*
*Morihei Ueshiba, through Aikido*
*Ric Black, through Bunbu-Ichi Zendo Kai Aiki-Jujitsu*
*Master J. Moore, through the AFJ and Yoshin Ryu Jujitsu*
*George Kirby, through Budoshin Jujitsu*
Many other men have answered the call and are keeping various elements of these arts and other self defense arts from disappearing. Mr. DaSilva has trained with some of them and is indebted to them. "I am grateful and stand in the shadow of greatness."
Academically, Mr. DaSilva holds a Masters Degree in Secondary Education and is a certified teacher. He holds a Homeland Security Controller/Evaluator Certificate, as well as YMCA certifications. He has taken and implemented new American methods of teaching to martial art instruction, for its assessment and measurement of improvement to aid in one's personal development.
This martial art is not for everyone…
If you are concerned about winning a trophy, then this is not for you.
If you are trying to find a new way to win or become the next MMA champion, then this is not for you.
If you are looking for why, how, who, what, where and when techniques came from or happened and trying to learn what truly harmonizes with you and your own needs for self defense. Then, you are one of the few, you are unique, and you have arrived!
Mr. DaSilva is concerned with the promotion of the art in its true form of self defense and increased perfection of the individual. The difference is in the training. American Kokoro Ryu Aiki-Jujitsu stays closest to traditional Aiki-Jujitsu but it is taught in an American fashion so that at the core, Aiki-Jujitsu and true self defense will not be lost to sport and commercialism. This organization is about preservation of technique, tradition and research into martial history for future growth with better understanding.
There are many martial arts out there. Some are sport oriented, some are most concerned with the philosophy/ culture only, and some are for self defense. Here in the USA, many are sport, with the other two disappearing over time. This school uses the best of philosophy, theory, and culture to train someone in self defense. Any sport ,or use of competition, is used to assess skill and is kept in the class or school only. This use of competition is just a tool and not the end goal. Sports have their place, but it is over used in our American society for monetary gain leaving many feeling as though there is nothing else involved or “Is this all there is to it?” feelings. There is more to martial arts and there are many great schools and teachers out there. You have found one in American Kokoro Ryu Aiki-Jujitsu.
